Storm & Hail Damage Repair

Storm & Hail Damage Repair in Oklahoma City

Storm damage repair fixes roofing hurt by hail or high wind: bruised or cracked shingles, granule loss, creased or lifted tabs, dented metal and torn flashing. Most of this damage can't be seen from the ground, so a close inspection after a storm is the only reliable way to know. Tusk Roofing inspects and repairs storm damage across the OKC metro.

How hail damages shingles

A hailstone can crush the mat under an asphalt shingle, leaving a soft bruise that feels like a bruised apple. It can also knock off the protective granules, exposing the asphalt to sun and water. Neither shows from the street, but both shorten the life of the roof and can lead to leaks later.

How wind damages shingles

Strong gusts can lift a shingle tab and break its seal strip. Even if the tab lays back down, it may now be creased along a line and no longer sealed, which lets the next storm peel it back or drive water under it. Missing shingles are the obvious sign; creased and unsealed tabs are the hidden one.

Why you can't see it from the ground

Bruises, granule loss and creased tabs are small and spread across the roof. From the yard, a damaged roof often looks fine. On the roof, we photograph each hit and mark it with chalk so you and your adjuster can see exactly what we found.

Act before the next storm

Damage that's already there gets worse with every storm that follows: unsealed tabs lift further, bruised spots crack, and exposed asphalt breaks down. Getting the roof looked at between storms gives you time to decide on repairs, and if there is an open spot, we can tarp it to keep water out in the meantime.

Questions

Storm & Hail Damage Repair FAQ

How do I know if hail damaged my roof?

Look for dents on gutters, vents and AC units, and granules in your downspouts. Those suggest the roof took hits too. The only way to confirm is a close inspection on the roof itself.

Can wind damage a roof without tearing shingles off?

Yes. Wind can lift tabs and break their seal, leaving a crease. The shingle may look in place but no longer be sealed, which makes it easier for the next storm to tear it off or push water underneath.

Should I wait to see if it leaks?

No. By the time a leak shows inside, water may have already soaked the decking or insulation. An inspection after a storm lets you catch damage first.

Can you tarp my roof until repairs are done?

Yes. If there's an opening or missing shingles, we can put on a temporary tarp to keep water out until the permanent repair.

Do I have to file an insurance claim?

That's your decision. We inspect and show you the damage first. If you choose to file, you file the claim, and we can meet your adjuster on the roof and answer their questions.
