Gutters

Gutters in Oklahoma City

Gutters collect water running off the roof and carry it through downspouts away from the house. Properly sized gutters protect fascia boards, siding, landscaping and the foundation from water damage. Tusk Roofing installs gutter systems across the Oklahoma City metro, on their own or together with a new roof.

Sizing and downspouts

Gutter size and downspout count should match how much roof drains into each run. Too small, or too few downspouts, and heavy rain overflows the front edge. We look at roof area, pitch and where water concentrates, such as valleys, and place downspouts where they can discharge away from the foundation.

How gutters protect your house

Without working gutters, water pours off the roof edge, soaks the fascia boards and rots them, splashes onto siding, erodes beds, and collects next to the foundation. Directing it away through downspouts keeps all of that dry.

Gutter guards

Guards cover the gutter to keep leaves and debris out, which reduces clogs and overflow. They don't eliminate maintenance entirely, but they make it far less frequent, especially under trees.

Replacing gutters with a new roof

A roof replacement is a natural time to replace gutters. Drip edge and gutters work together at the roof edge, and doing both at once lets everything line up and seal properly. Hail often dents gutters too, which is one of the signs we check for during storm inspections.

“yard was free of nails”

My experience with Tusk Roofing was exceptional. Everyone was very professional and considerate of my wants and wishes from the guy that I talked to on the phone to the men that installed my roof. I also shared that I was nervous about the clean up because I have dogs but they went above and beyond to ensure my yard was free of nails and various materials.

Questions

Gutters FAQ

Why do my gutters overflow in heavy rain?

Usually a clog, gutters that are too small for the roof area, or too few downspouts. Valleys that dump a lot of water in one spot are a common culprit.

Are gutter guards worth it?

They reduce clogs and how often gutters need cleaning, especially under trees. They don't remove the need for maintenance entirely.

Should I replace gutters when I replace my roof?

It's often a good time, since gutters and drip edge meet at the roof edge. If your gutters are in good shape, they can usually be kept.

Can hail damage gutters?

Yes. Dents in gutters and downspouts are common after hail and are one of the first things we look at during a storm inspection.
