Roof Replacement

Roof Replacement in Oklahoma City

A roof replacement removes the old roofing down to the wood deck and installs a new system: underlayment, drip edge, flashing, vents and shingles or metal. You need one when damage is widespread, shingles are worn out, or repairs keep failing. Tusk Roofing replaces roofs across the Oklahoma City metro.

What gets replaced

We tear off the existing shingles and underlayment so the deck is visible. Soft, rotted or delaminated decking boards are replaced as needed, because new shingles can't be nailed securely into bad wood. Then we install new underlayment, drip edge along the eaves and rakes, flashing at walls, chimneys and valleys, pipe boots, ventilation, and the new roof covering.

Architectural or premium composite shingles

Architectural (dimensional) asphalt shingles are the most common choice: layered, durable and available in many colors. Premium composite shingles are made from engineered materials designed to look like slate or wood shake. During the inspection we'll walk you through what each looks like on a house like yours and how each handles Oklahoma weather, so you can choose with real samples in hand.

Matching shingles on older homes and additions

Older homes and new additions are where roofs get tricky. Shingle lines get discontinued, colors shift, and an addition has to tie into the existing roof without a visible seam or a leak point. On one 80-year-old home with a new addition, we reconstructed the roof to tie in seamlessly and tracked down matching discontinued shingles so the homeowners didn't have to redo the whole roof.

Cleanup

A tear-off produces a lot of nails and debris. We protect landscaping, haul everything off, and run magnetic sweeps across the yard, driveway and beds before we leave. Homeowners with dogs and kids tell us this is the part they notice most.

From homeowners

“yard was free of nails”

My experience with Tusk Roofing was exceptional. Everyone was very professional and considerate of my wants and wishes from the guy that I talked to on the phone to the men that installed my roof. I also shared that I was nervous about the clean up because I have dogs but they went above and beyond to ensure my yard was free of nails and various materials.

“found our matching shingles”

We are currently doing a 600sqft addition to our 80 year old home. Tusk was able to reconstruct our roof to make it seamless to the new addition. They also went above and beyond and found our matching shingles that were discontinued so we did not have to redo the entire roof. We are very happy with how our roof turned out.

Questions

Roof Replacement FAQ

Can you put new shingles over my old ones?

Some codes allow a second layer, but we recommend a full tear-off. Removing the old roof lets us inspect and repair the deck, replace flashing properly, and avoid adding weight that can shorten the life of the new roof.

Will you replace rotten decking?

Yes. Once the old roof is off, we check the deck board by board. Soft or damaged sections are replaced so the new roof has a solid base to nail into.

Can you match the shingles on part of my roof?

Often, yes. We look for the current version of your shingle line or the closest available match. When a line is discontinued, we search for remaining stock, as we did for one older home with an addition.

Do I need to be home during the replacement?

Not necessarily. We'll need access to the property and to know about pets, gates and parking. We'll talk through what works for you before work starts.

What happens to all the nails?

We run magnetic sweeps across the yard, driveway and landscaping beds and haul off all debris before we leave.

Is my roof replacement covered by insurance?

It depends on the cause and your policy. Storm damage is often covered; wear and age usually aren't. You file the claim, and we can document the damage and meet your adjuster on the roof.
